Our yard is in Pinelands, so this is the shortest run we do. Pinelands is a 1920s garden suburb, which means mature trees, narrow verges, older semi-detached homes with tight doorways and staircases, and very little off-street parking. We size the truck for the street, not just for the load.
Go Gorilla Movers runs out of a vehicle yard and container storage facility in Pinelands. It is where the fleet sleeps, where the packing materials live, and where every job in the Western Cape starts and ends. If you are moving within Pinelands or out of it, you are booking the closest mover you are going to find.
What makes a Pinelands move different
Pinelands was laid out in the 1920s as South Africa's first garden suburb, and it still moves like one. That history shows up in practical ways on moving day.
- Mature trees and narrow verges. The oak and pine canopy that makes the suburb what it is also sets a real height limit on some streets. We know which roads a full-height truck can take and which need a smaller vehicle plus a shuttle.
- Older semi-detached and terraced homes. Original doorways, tight hallway corners, and steep narrow staircases are common in the older sections. Wardrobes and sleeper couches often need to be turned, and occasionally hoisted through a window instead.
- Limited off-street parking. Many of the older houses have no garage and no driveway wide enough for a truck, so we work off the street. On the narrower roads that means positioning early, before the school run.
- Garden walls and gates. Deep front gardens are lovely and they also mean a longer carry from the truck to the front door than most Cape Town suburbs.
Getting in and out
Pinelands sits between the N2 and Forest Drive, with Howard Centre roughly at the middle of it. That position is genuinely useful. It means quick access to the Southern Suburbs one way, the CBD and Atlantic Seaboard the other, and the N1 north without crossing town. For a move that ends anywhere in the Cape Town bowl, starting in Pinelands is about as good as it gets.
Because the yard is here, Pinelands jobs can often be scheduled with less notice than the rest of our coverage area. If your move is short notice, it is worth asking. WhatsApp us on 073 905 5343 and we will tell you honestly what is available.
Storage in Pinelands
We keep container storage on the same Pinelands site as the fleet. If your dates do not line up, if a transfer is delayed, or if you are downsizing and need somewhere for the overflow, your things can go straight into storage without a second handling and a second trip across town. That matters more than people expect, because every extra handling is another chance for something to get knocked.
What we move here
Standard household removals make up most of the Pinelands work: families moving within the suburb, people moving out to the Southern Suburbs or the Northern Suburbs, and students and young professionals moving between flats. We also do commercial jobs out of the light industrial pockets around Ndabeni and Maitland, which are minutes away.
Everything travels in enclosed, weatherproof trucks with proper wrapping, and every job carries R100,000 goods-in-transit cover as standard. For what a move typically costs, see our Cape Town moving cost guide, and for how to prepare, the moving checklist.
